This Privacy Policy (the “Policy“) applies to the website at http://www.corl.io (the “Website“) which includes all subdomains present and future, and also includes the use of the “Services“, the propriety software system that Corl has developed to issue revenue-sharing investments to startups and businesses backed by machine learning and big data (the “Business Platform“), to whitelist and board investors participating in the Corl token sale (the “Investor Portal“), and as more fully described in the Terms of Use. For further clarity, any mention of the Website in this Policy includes the Services, as the Services are accessed on a subdomain of the Website.

By visiting and / or using the Website, initiating a transaction or by clicking the acceptance box upon signing up for an account, you agree to be bound by the terms of the present Policy. By submitting personal information to us or on or through the Website or via other means, you consent to Corl’s collection, use and disclosure of such personal information in accordance with this Policy (as amended from time to time) and as permitted or required by law.

The Website is owned and operated by Corl Financial Technologies Inc. (the “Company”, or “Corl“), a corporation located at 375-4000 Saint-Ambroise Street, Montreal, QC H4C 2C7. Where the present Policy refers to “Corl”, it may refer to Corl Financial Technologies Inc. and / or its officers, directors, employees, agents or representatives, depending on the context. Any reference to “we“, “our“, or “us” in this Policy, shall also refer to Corl.

In this Policy, a Website visitor or user, or the legal entity they represent (depending on the context), may be referred to as “you” or “your“. When a Website user has created an account and is logged in to the Services, they may be referred to as a “Logged-in User“.

Corl reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to modify or replace any of the Policy. Any changes to the Policy can be found at this URL. It is your responsibility to check the Policy periodically for changes. Your visit or use of the Website, the initiation of a transaction or the selection of an acceptance box following the posting of any changes to the Policy constitutes acceptance of those changes. Corl takes steps intended to meet privacy principles and requirements under applicable privacy legislation with respect to personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual, as more particularly described under applicable privacy legislation. This Policy describes how Corl collects and uses the personal information you provide, or provided on your behalf, or which may be generated or collected when you interact with our Services. It also describes the choices available to you regarding the use of, your access to, and how to update and correct your personal information. This statement does not apply to information about our employees or to information that is not personal information.

  • your business name, address, business inception date, business bank statements (and data about your banking transactions), financial statements, payment processor statements (and data about your payment transactions), customers, telephone number and address;
  • financial information, such as your bank name and your bank account number, void checque, personal and business credit bureau reports, payment behaviour, and other reports concerning your credit history and experience;
  • other financial or personal information about you, such as your percent ownership in the business, your liabilities, and your financial condition; your social insurance number (or the equivalent in your jurisdiction);
  • your identity through an acceptable form of government-issued identification;
  • we may collect data through a third party site inspection vendor, or social media sites or services;
  • information about any previous loan applications you may have previously applied for (directly or on your behalf);
  • information about any previous revenue-sharing (or royalty) applications you may have previously applied for (directly or on your behalf), and any previous Corl royalty payment history;
  • such other information we may collect with your consent or as permitted or required by applicable law; and
  • personal information about you given to us by others and personal information about others provided by you.

We generally use personal information for the following purposes:

  • to verify your identity in connection with our user and Account registration and login processes;
  • to manage and administer your account with Corl;
  • to facilitate the transactional process between financial institutions;
  • to compile and analyze information to better understand our customers;
  • to determine your Corl Score and risk grade, royalty rate, royalty cap, term and maximum investment amount;
  • to set up auto payment deductions as may be required by our royalty agreements;
  • to produce data analytics and reports containing summaries of data and general information that we may share with business partners;
  • to prevent fraud, identity theft or illegal activities;
  • to maintain our business records for reasonable periods and to generally manage and administer our business;
  • to resolve disputes and to enforce our royalty agreements;
  • to compare information for accuracy and verify it with third parties; and
  • to meet legal, regulatory, insurance, audit, processing and security requirements imposed on us, which may include establishing and verifying your identity and checking your identity against money laundering, terrorist financing or similar watch lists established by regulatory agencies or similar bodies in the United States, Canada, and/or your jurisdiction.

We may also use your personal information in other manners with your consent or as permitted or required by applicable law.

We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as required by law, such as to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Website when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

We may disclose your personal information to our affiliates for internal audit, management, billing or administrative purposes. In addition, we may disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Business Transactions.Personal information may be used by us and disclosed to third parties in connection with certain business transactions, including, without limitation, in connection with a proposed or actual financing of Corl or a sale, assignment or other disposal of all or part of our business or assets. In that case, personal information may be disclosed to third parties for the purpose of, among others, evaluating and consummating the proposed transaction, or fulfilling reporting, due diligence, inspection or audit requirements or obligations to those parties. Assignees or successors of Corl or any part of our business or assets may use and disclose your personal information for similar purposes as those described in this Policy. You will be notified via email and/or a notice on our Website, of any change in ownership, uses of your personal information, and choices you may have regarding your personal information.
  • We may otherwise disclose your personal information only in ways that are described in this Policy and with your consent or as permitted or required by applicable law.

Technologies such as cookies, beacons, scripts and tags are used by Corl and our marketing partners, affiliates or analytics or service providers. These technologies are used in analyzing trends, administering the Website, tracking users’ movements around the site, and gathering demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual and aggregated basis. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing these types of tracking technologies.

Cookies are files placed within your browser on your computer’s hard drive by a site server. Corl’s Website may use cookies to facilitate your Internet sessions, to maintain security, and to improve our Website and Services. For example, Corl may use cookies to verify your identity, remember your personal settings such as your offer preferences, and to monitor your use of the Website to improve our Services. We do not use cookies to collect data from your hard drive including your e-mail address or other personal information. If you choose not to enable cookies on your browser, you may not be able to use some of the Services offered on Corl’s Website. We use Local Storage, such as HTML5, to store content information and preferences. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing HTML5.

The use of cookies by our tracking utility company and service providers is not covered by our Policy. We do not have access or control over these cookies. Our tracking utility company and service providers use session ID cookies to provide us with usage tracking for the platform.

Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our Website or to display advertising based upon your web browsing activity use HTML5 to collect and store information. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing HTML5.

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data.

We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve Services we offer you, analytics, and site functionality.

Once you complete our user registration and your Corl account is created, we will use your e-mail address as one method to contact you regarding your Corl account. We may also contact you at any telephone number, or physical or electronic address you communicate to us and may contact you using SMS messages (including text messages), calls using prerecorded messages or artificial voice, and calls and messages delivered using auto telephone dialling system or an automatic texting system. Automated messages may be played when the telephone is answered, whether by you or someone else. In the event that an agent or representative calls, he or she may also leave a message on your answering machine, voice mail, or send one via text. In order to provide consistent and high-quality registered user service and support, we may store any communication and correspondence with you in a file specific to you. Furthermore, we will use your e-mail address to provide you with e-mail updates regarding changes to our Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use or other changes or events we believe are material to you.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties or marketing firms for their promotional purposes. We do send communications periodically to inform you of the status of transactions or events related to your Corl account and your use of our Website. Some of these communications are required in connection with transactions you are considering or have concluded through the Corl Website. Receiving emails from our Website is part of our Service. All of the pages on our Website that ask for your personal information are transferred to your browser through HTTPS, a secure server communications protocol. You can verify this encryption by checking for the lock icon on your browser. If your browser’s security feature has been turned on, a pop up box will notify you when you enter a secure page.

When you send your personal information to us, it is protected by SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Technology. SSL does not allow anyone to read your personal information. When you transmit your information to us, SSL encrypts it (translates the data into a string of gibberish characters) and only we can decode the encryption.

To register for or log in to your Account or retrieve information about your status as a registered user on the Business and Investor Portal and your transactions, you are required to enter both a password and your user name.

These safeguards are used to protect against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification of your personal information. In addition to the security features we have implemented in our systems, the security of your personal information relies on you safeguarding your password. Accordingly, you may not share your password with anyone.

Our authorized employees, agents and parties to a contract of work or services with us who require access to your personal information in order to fulfill their job requirements or contracts will have access to your personal information.

  1. 15. Access, Correction and Contacting Us.

You can access, delete or review the personal information you submit to us at any time through your Corl account. To make changes to your personal profile information, log in to your Corl account using your user name and password. Click on “Settings”in the “My Profile” section and make changes to your profile as necessary.

We may establish and maintain a file of your personal information for the purposes described in this Policy, which will be accessible by you at our operational offices at 4000 Saint Ambroise Street, Suite 375, Montreal, QC, Canada H4C 2C7 and 180 John Street, Suite 625, Toronto, ON, Canada. You may request access to your file or correction of any inaccuracies in your personal information in our possession, or held by the personal information agent who prepared a credit report on you. Your right to access or correct your personal information is subject to applicable legal restrictions. If you wish to request access or correction of your file, cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, or to make inquiries or complaints or have other concerns about our personal information practices, you may contact our Data Protection Officer at the information provided in section 1 above. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Users of our Website, Services, the Business, and Investor Portal must be 18 years of age or older. Additional requirements apply to registered users.

It is a good practice to select a password for your Corl account that is a unique combination of letters, numbers and symbols. Your password should not be predictable or easy to guess. A good practice is to change your password periodically, such as every 90 days.

We post customer testimonials/comments/reviews on our Website which may contain personal information. We do obtain the customer’s consent via email prior to posting the testimonial to post their name along with the testimonial. To request removal of your personal information from testimonials or comments please contact us via our Contact Us.

  1. 20. Blogs/Discussion Forums.

If you use a bulletin board, chat room, blog or forum on this Website, you should be aware that any personal information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these forums. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, contact us via our Contact Us. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

Our Website includes Social Media Features, such as the Facebook Like button, and Widgets, such as the Share This button or interactive mini-programs that run on our Website. These Features may collect your Internet protocol address, which page you are visiting on our Website, and may set a cookie to enable the Feature to function properly. Social Media Features and Widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Website. Your interactions with these Features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our Website, we will ask you for your friend’s name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the Website. Corl stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program. Your friend may contact us via our Contact Us page to request that we remove this information from our database.
